Professor Dr. Sucandy Visited Hospital Mandaya Puri Liver Center in Jakarta
On July 27th, 2025, Professor Dr. Sucandy was invited to visit the Hospital Mandaya Puri Liver Cancer program in Jakarta, led by Professor Dr. Toar Lalisang, a senior surgeon and the Head of Department of Surgery at the Ciptomangunkusumo General Hospital/Universitas Indonesia. The visit was also welcomed by the President and CEO of Hospital Mandaya Puri Dr. Ben Widaja, along with his key administrators.
Hospital Mandaya Puri is known as a luxurious private hospital in the North of Jakarta, providing tertiary high level of surgical care including complex treatments of liver disease. The goal of the hospital is to deliver patient-centered care that is personalized to each patient by incorporating advanced medical technology that improves patient outcomes. At this time, Hospital Mandaya is also examining the robotic surgical technology, comparing the leading Intuitive Surgical robot versus others such as EDGE medical and Toumai robots. Professor Dr. Sucandy discussed with the Mandaya CEO and team about the essense and tips on how to develop a succesful robotic surgery program within a hospital. The ultimate plan is to bring robotic surgery capabilities for digestive tract disorders including oncological hepatopancreatobiliary tumor resections and eventually living donor liver transplantation.
